Formation Through Fidelity
As I write issue number 200 of The Good Leaven Letter, I find myself thinking about the power of repetition. What we repeatedly do shapes who we become. As habits develop, our actions gain momentum and require less effort. Fidelity changes our lives as powerfully as water changes landscapes.
For example, when my son turned a year old, my wife was struck by the fact that she cared for him every single day since he was born. Not a day had passed without her nursing him or changing his diaper. These habits and others have formed my wife into the beautiful mother she is today and they will continue to do so.
This week, I invite you to ask:
What do I faithfully do every day? Every week? Every month? Every year? Which routines do I want to keep and which ones need to change?
God bless,
Dan
