Where Are You Going?

We knew that we were going back to the campsite; we just didn’t know how we’d get there. Spending the night in the cold with seven small children was not an option. We had to get back.

This weekend my college roommate led our two families on an epic camping trip in the gorgeous Red River Gorge of Kentucky. After bushwacking our way up a small mountain to a stone bluff, we spent the day rock climbing and enjoying the beauty of the forest. On the way back, we couldn’t find the same route we had taken up. I admired how calmly my friend and his wife searched for ways to hike back through the maze of overgrowth.

We eventually made it back to our tents, with still enough light to catch a few trout and cook a nice dinner. This experience reminded me that knowing your destination is very different from knowing how you will get there. When you are 100% committed to a particular result and you are willing to experiment, how to achieve the result usually emerges as well.

This week, I invite you to consider:

What am I 100% committed to? Based on results, is how I am living my life currently sufficient to get me there? If not, what needs to change?

God bless,
Dan
