What is a VIGO?

A VIGO is a simple and fruitful process that I have seen produce value in my own life and in the lives of others. I’ve seen it work in presentations before a group, in peer to peer conversations and in individual journaling. VIGO stands for: Victory, Insight, Growth Opportunity. You run the process by answering the following three questions:

  1. What’s a victory you’ve had recently that you’re grateful for?

  2. What’s an insight that you’ve been blessed to have had recently?

  3. What’s a growth opportunity that you’d like to focus on as you look forward to the future?

As an example, here’s my VIGO for this week:

Victory

I am deeply grateful for the birth of our new baby son, Francis Joseph Selmeczy! I am filled with love and reverence for my incredible wife, Mary, and I am proud to have been her birth partner.

Insight

Life is more beautiful and mysterious than I usually realize. The word that comes to mind to describe the experience of seeing Francis for the first time is “hyper-real.” It was as if someone cranked up the volume on the reality dial. This leads me to wonder whether all moments would be like this if we could fully perceive the mystery of being.

Growth Opportunity

I will be more vigilant in honoring my family by setting aside time to enjoy and grow in our love for each other.

That’s my VIGO. What’s yours? I would love to hear from you.

Also, I invite you to structure one of your conversations, whether in your personal or professional life, around the VIGO process and to see what kind of fruit it bears for you!

God Bless,
Dan
