Might As Well Not Get Started

Have you ever been in so deep that shame and a sense of futility prevented you from climbing out?

  • I have so many unopened emails, so might as well not get started answering them.

  • I’m so overweight, so might as well not get started working out.

  • I have so much debt, so might as well not get started paying it off.

  • I haven’t kept up with my relatives, so might as well not get started calling them now.

And perhaps the most insidious of all:

  • I am sinful, so might as well not get started repenting and changing my ways.

As we head into the new year, I invite you to ask yourself:

In what areas of my life am I using shame and futility to let myself off the hook from getting started? What ruts am I committed to climbing out of in 2024? What are the first steps I will take this week?

God bless,
Dan
