Lessons from Plumbing

One toilet and zero showers. That’s what we were down to for four adults and seven children. We learned that after years of disuse, plumbing in an old house tends to break. Fortunately, after multiple visits from multiple plumbers, all three bathrooms are in working order.

I’ve learned firsthand that plumbing systems need to have two things to work: good water flow from the tap and no clogs in the drains. This experience illustrates a more general principle of performance. To do anything well, you must take positive actions and remove impediments as well.

This week, I invite you to ask:

What is one thing I could add to significantly improve my life? What is one thing I could remove?

God bless,
Dan
